Overview
Time Value ("we", "our", or "the app") is a focus and productivity tool for Android. This policy explains what information the app accesses, how it uses that information, and your rights regarding your data.
The short version: Time Value stores everything on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data to any server or third party.
Information We Access
Accessibility Service
Time Value uses Android's Accessibility Service to detect which app is currently in the foreground. This is the mechanism that allows the app to enforce your focus sessions by identifying when a blocked app is opened.
- The foreground app's package name is read in real time.
- This data is never stored, logged, or transmitted — it is used only to trigger the unlock prompt when applicable.
- No content from any other app (text, images, input) is read or collected.
Installed Applications
The app reads your list of installed applications so you can select which apps to block or exempt during focus sessions. This list is:
- Stored locally on your device only.
- Never transmitted to any server.
- Used solely to display the app selection screen.
Biometric & PIN Authentication
If you enable biometric or PIN authentication, all credentials are:
- Stored exclusively on your device using Android's secure storage.
- Never transmitted off-device in any form.
- Biometric data is processed by the Android system — Time Value never has access to raw biometric data.
Device Administrator Permission
Time Value can optionally be granted Device Administrator permission. This is used solely to prevent the app from being uninstalled while a session is active, making your commitment harder to break. This permission:
- Is entirely optional.
- Does not allow Time Value to remotely manage, wipe, or access any device data.
- Can be revoked at any time in Android Settings.
Purchases
Time Value uses Google Play Billing for in-app purchases (unlock tokens). All payment processing is handled entirely by Google Play. Time Value does not receive, store, or process any payment card information. Purchase history is managed by your Google Play account.
Local Data Storage
The following data is stored locally on your device:
- Your app block list and exempt list
- Focus session schedules and history
- Streak and usage statistics
- Security settings (PIN hash, biometric preference)
- Theme and notification preferences
All of this data remains on your device. It is not backed up to any cloud service operated by Time Value, though it may be included in Android's standard device backup if you have that enabled in your system settings.
Data Sharing
We do not share any data with third parties. Time Value does not use analytics services, advertising networks, crash reporting services, or any other external data processors.
Data Retention & Deletion
All data is stored locally on your device and is deleted when you uninstall the app. You can also clear app data at any time via Android Settings → Apps → Time Value → Storage → Clear Data.
Children's Privacy
Time Value is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
